ket

1) Carrion or raw flesh, a word first noted in c.1220 but much later in Yorkshire, in glossaries of 1788 and 1828 (OED).

In Upperthong we have: 1688 we lay in paine that no ... person ... do put or lye any ket or carrion into any of the waters belonging to the towne. However, the former Ketmongergate in York, that is ‘flesh-seller street’, has spellings from the twelfth century: 1175 Chetmangeregata

1194 Ketmangeregate .
