ship carpenter

1) A carpenter employed in the construction or fitting out of ships, an occupational term first noted in an Act of 1495 (OED).

It was well established later in Hull, and a dozen examples have been noted there in the second half of the sixteenth century: 1570 Thomas Adamson, shipcarpenter, Hull

1601 Henry Browne, shipcarpenter, Hull.
