Both are noted as by-names: 1258 Peter Swetemilk, Rothwell

1325 Ivo Sourmilk, Sowerby near Halifax. Sweet milk occurs as a minor place-name in an undated thirteenth-century deed: ‘in the fields of Farnelay in the place called Suet Milke Riddinge’, Otley.
