In Colsterdale, in 1737, the blacksmith made fittings for a trap door and a boy was paid for attending the Door for carrying air to the Forefield . In the 1842 report into child labour Sarah Gooder aged 8 said that she was a trapper in the Gawber pit, adding I have to trap without a light, and I’m scared.
