truss-hare

1) A by-name for a poacher.

In 1304, an action was brought by the Prior of Watton against William Trussehare and others for breaking his warren. The by-name suggests that the offender was known to snatch game illegally and it anticipates the OED reference to this word which has the eagle trussing up a hare.
