In 1672 two men turned their mother out of doores who wandered in the night drazled and amazed, Halifax. At the Quarter Sessions, in 1690, Martha Thornton of Idle was accused of an assault in which she took a man by the hair … knocked his head against a Cupboard and threw him violently down. He testified that he could remember nothing, as he was so amazed with the fall.
