1313 Robert the Hagger, Stanley. At Methley manor court in 1469 William Hagger was ‘the keeper of the Wood’ and he presented several tenants for illegally felling ash trees. Note also: c.1297 in essarto quod quondam fuit Matildis le Wodhagg[er] iacens in territorio de Seleby .
